You and I are in totally different situations. I don't want the burden of being married to this gargantuan collection of "stuff" anymore. That's just it I DO want the DVDs, but that's allll I want. we're thinking of downsizing our home, so the sword of Damocles is hanging over my head to some extent! It usually works out to around the price of a rental anyway and, with my tastes and living where I live, I couldn't rent 99% of these titles anyway!īut the time may come, Rak. Prices are so low nowadays that I frequently do blind buys on things, watch them once and then sell them off for about 1/2 what I paid for them. I periodically go through and pull anything out that I'm not likely to watch again for sale. I wanted to keep my cases and particularly my covers/inserts in case I want to sell discs at local secondhand stores, which I frequently do. I was able to stack them all and they now make everything look much nicer as nothing gets pushed too far in. I put all my cases in behind my remaining packaged discs on my NON-custommade shelves which are too deep for DVD's anyway. Took all of the covers and placed them in a drawer. I have all my DVDr's in 2 binders, and one each for all my westerns and war films. Cut it to the bone, eh, Rak? I have started a similar process, but don't really have to do anything so drastic. Seeing as I'm stuck at an airport right now, I wish I had thought to bring the list with me! I already wrote everything down on paper, but I need to put it on the computer. In any case, my next step is to start making a list of every title (perhaps in Excel so I can sort it however I like). For me, all these *things* became like an albatross around my neck and it was beginning to choke me. It was a fun ride, and I enjoyed it all for many years, but the thrill has been gone for a while. I have nowhere to keep all this stuff anymore, plain and simple. Do I even *want* to watch it in the next five years? No." ZAP! Gone.). Some stuff I didn't have on DVD, but just couldn't care less about when it came right down to it ("Have I watched this in the past five years? No. No chachkis, toys, boxes, folders, tins, no nothing. Cesar life-size ape head (that housed all the DVDs)? History. MASH green heavy duty box holding all the discs? Trashed. The only things I kept were a few select insert-booklets (I'm talking like maybe ten of 'em and that's it).Ībbott And Costello cardboard vaudeville trunk? Garbage. I got rid of every single box and box set packaging, just keeping the actual discs themselves. My entire DVD collection (well over 1000 DVDs) are now in five black binders.
